At New Pathways Academy, we believe every student should have an education that teaches them how to think deeply, make real-world connections, and become confident and thoughtful individuals. Education is so much more than memorizing facts or preparing for a single test. This is why NPA is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP is designed for students aged 11-16 and focuses on helping students connect their learning to the real world. It emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and communication. Students explore big ideas through eight subject areas, engage in interdisciplinary learning, and reflect on their personal development.
NPA is part of the rich and diverse community of the South Bronx, where many families come from different countries and backgrounds. The IB philosophy celebrates intercultural understanding, global citizenship, and respect for all people, which matches the strength and diversity of our school community. IB encourages students to appreciate their own cultures and learn about others, helping them become thoughtful members of the world.
Through IB, NPA focuses on the whole child. Students take part in a strong academic program, as well as arts, world languages, physical education, and community service. Every student is encouraged to explore their talents, care about others, and take action to make a difference. At New Pathways Academy, the IB program helps us fulfill our mission: to develop creative minds, compassionate hearts, and students who have the courage to walk their own path.
