IB MYP Subjects
At New Pathways Academy, all students engage in a full range of IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) subjects in years 1-3 (6th to 8th grade). Each subject group challenges students to think deeply, make real-world connections, and build a broad set of skills. Students explore eight subject areas Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Design, and Physical and Health Education.
Through an inquiry-based approach, students develop critical thinking, creativity, and a strong sense of international-mindedness. They study Key and Related Concepts and connect their learning to Global Contexts that make classroom lessons meaningful and relevant. Across all subjects, students strengthen their Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, building habits of organization, communication, research, collaboration, and reflection.
Throughout their studies in the eight subject areas, NPA encourages students to draw from their diverse backgrounds and experiences to enrich classroom discussions and learning. Students grow into curious, lifelong learners with the skills of being reflective and compassionate - they are ready to make a difference in their communities and beyond!
