IB Leaner Profile

At New Pathways Academy, the IB Learner Profile is more than a set of ideals—it’s a guide for how our students learn, grow, and interact with the world. The ten attributes—such as being principled, open-minded, and reflective—are woven into our school culture and daily learning. Students explore these attributes deeply through two interdisciplinary units. In Design and Language & Literature, students create infographic posters connecting the attributes to a selection of short stories. In Visual Arts and Language & Literature, students read and analyze The Skin I’m In through the lens of the IB Learner Profile, then visually express themselves through IB Learner Profile self-portraits. Each week, NPA recognizes Exemplary Students of the Week who embody these attributes. Students regularly reflect on their growth using the Learner Profile, and teachers frame feedback and support through the Learner Profile lens. At NPA, the IB Learner Profile helps shape thoughtful, caring, and capable young people.
